If you were a buyer and you’re out there actually looking for a home or if you’ve done that in the past, you’re going to find out that it can be exhausting especially if you’re out there looking at home after home, I’m telling you, after you see like number 15, your head is spinning. You can’t remember the details of one from the other and it just gets really confusing and very exhausting. So, if you have a really good agent a buyer’s agent will sit down with you and actually go through a whole questionnaire and really dive down to find out exactly why you’re buying and what is really, really, really important to you.
What are the things that you just absolutely must have in a home before you purchase it? So, a really good agent will go through that process and interview you so that way they can dive into exactly what is currently on the market and really narrow down the list of homes that are going to be the best, that you’re going to be interested in and being able to go see them. I will tell you that most good buyer’s agents will be able to consult with you and get you down to about eight to 10 homes at the most. They’re going to fit your needs. And believe me, the last thing you want to do is go out there and look at 40, 50, 60 homes. You’re going to be exhausted, you’re going to be frustrated and nothing’s going to make sense.
So a really good buyer’s agent once again is going to have a really good process in place to drill that down, minimize your views to about five or eight homes. And then you’re going to pick one of those five or eight and they’re going to pull you through that whole process. This has gotten really important especially with everything going on in the world right now. We’ve got to be careful. We just can’t go wandering around all these different homes and exposing everybody to everything that’s going on. So that’s really critical especially right now in these times.
So, to answer your question of how many houses should I look at before buying one, you should really have the mindset of seeing about eight to 10 homes at the most, and being able to find your dream home within those eight.
