Hey everybody, Tom Townsend with Townsend Realty Group, Keller Williams. Hey, I’m coming to you and wanted to talk to you a little bit about what the top 5 things to do in Canton, Ga are.
So we always have people that are actually transferring in, or if you’re not really familiar with the area and Cherokee County, some of the things that are just really a lot of fun to do. So I’m going to give you five things to do in the Canton, Georgia market area if you’re not familiar with the area itself. I’m going to talk a little bit about Big Door Winery, Blankets Creek, the Mill on Etowah, Reformation Brewery, and the Etowah River Park. So those are kind of the five things that I recommend that if you’re not familiar with the area that are really fun to do. So, that’s it. No, I’m just kidding, I’ll talk to you a little bit more about ’em, give you a little more detail.
One of the favorite places that we like to go to is Big Door Winery, and it happens to be the local winery that we have here in Cherokee County. And it’s located right at the Bartow-Cherokee line on Highway 20 if you’re kind of familiar with that area. Really nice place to go, they have a beautiful, I’m going to call it a tasting room, which you can go in. They have a limited menu. They always have some live music going on there, either on Friday or Saturday night, beautiful views. They’ve got a nice wraparound decking out there, and just one of our favorite places to go and relax and just kind of chill out. So that’s Big Door Winery. We also have a video on that too, if you want to check that out to give you a little more detail.
The other one that I mentioned was Blankets Creek. We happen to have one of the most premier mountain biking facilities right here in Cherokee County. It happens to be in the Sixes community, right off of Sixes road. If you’re an outdoor person, you like mountain biking, it is, I’ve never been, to be quite honest with you, but I have been just heard that it’s absolutely amazing and a great place to go. It’s one of the most premier mountain biking facilities is right here in Cherokee County.
The third place is the Mill on Etowah. That happens to be a newer development that the city of Canton is an undertaking. And it’s really, it’s a great place to go. It’s got, the mill itself is a large old cotton mill factory that they’ve converted into a big shop. As a matter of fact, I was told that they actually used to make denim there. So all your jean materials and all that used to be made right there in Canton. Anyways, tons of shops in there, really neat to go in there and take a look and see what’s going on there. They’re building out restaurants, and they have a great outdoor activity area there as well. So if you haven’t been there, you need to go check that out.
Within that same area is the number four spot that I think you need to go visit. And that’s Reformation Brewery. That happens to be our local brewery company. That’s right here in Cherokee County and, you know, go have a relax. They got a great facility out there. Once again, they have a huge deck out there in downtown Canton, and you can go do private tours if you’d like, go check it out, and then have a beer and relax. There’s corn hole that they’re always playing. Sometimes they’ll have live music.
The last thing that I have on my list is Downtown Canton. They’ve actually gone through quite a bit of development here over the last couple of years. So they’ve got some wonderful restaurants that are there to go visit, probably too many to mention right now, but it’s really, they’ve really done a good job to bring business back into the downtown area for the evening hours, and even on the weekends. There’s always something going on downtown Canton on the weekends, either a car show, or they’ll have some different art festivities and such going on. So downtown Canton is a really neat area as well.
So those are the top five things do in Canton, Georgia area, especially if you’re unfamiliar with it, and want to get to know the area a little bit more.
