Hey everybody, Tom Townsend comin’ to you! Going to talk to you a little bit about how the Bridgemill Schools in Canton, Ga works. Bridgemill is a subdivision here in Canton, Georgia in Cherokee County. We get a lot of calls and people asking about the schools, not only what their ratings are, but where do the kids go to school kind of a situation.
So we’re kind of a unique subdivision because we’re 2,800 plus homes here. We have a very large subdivision, so kind of unique where everybody goes to school. So this is for everybody that has questions about the school–where are my kids going to go? And how that all works?
Basically, what happens is the subdivision is split in half and there is a north side and a south side to the subdivision, and it’s not quite split in the middle, but close enough for this conversation. The kids that are in elementary school on the south side of the subdivision all go to Sixes Elementary. The kids in elementary school that are on the north side of the subdivision all go to Liberty Elementary.
Then what happens after they get through fifth grade, the whole subdivision goes to Freedom Middle School, and then after middle school, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade, they go to separate high schools again. The kids on the north side of the subdivision go to Cherokee High School. While the kids on the south side of the subdivision go to Woodstock High School.
We raised our kids here and it worked out great. In middle school, they got to meet so many more kids from the other side of the subdivision, and they still have relationships with those kids even though they split off to each other again in the high schools. It really made a unique and fun environment for the kids.
Talk about a rivalry between those two high schools? It was great. The sporting events that we used to go to, they got to see all their friends that they stayed in contact with that they had met through their middle school years, and it just made a really neat and fun environment. Plus we have all the amenities here in Bridgemill, as well, so they always saw each other at the pools and around the subdivision as a whole.
So it was a really unique situation but worked out really great for our kids. They absolutely loved it and it wasn’t an issue at all.
So that’s how the Bridgemill Schools in Canton, Ga works. If you have any other questions about schools in Cherokee County, we’ve been helping families since 2002 here. I would be more than happy to talk to you as specifically about the schools, what kind of services they all provide right here in Cherokee County.
